Familome privacy policy
What happens to your family's information in the Familome app. In short: it stays in your own iCloud, and we collect none of it.
Who we are
Familome is made by Bald Software Development Studio UG (haftungsbeschränkt). Our address and register details are in the imprint. This policy covers the app; this website has its own privacy policy.
What we collect
Nothing. We run no servers for Familome and there is no account to create with us. The app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and we don't sell or share data with anyone. On the App Store, Familome's privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
Where your family's information is kept
What you enter (logs and timers, growth and health records, vaccines and visits, pregnancy records, notes, photos and videos) is stored on your devices and in your own iCloud account, through Apple's CloudKit.
- It's kept in your private iCloud database, which app developers, including us, cannot access.
- Text and numbers are stored in end-to-end encrypted fields; photos and videos are stored as iCloud files under Apple's iCloud encryption.
- It counts toward your iCloud storage, and Apple's privacy policy applies to iCloud.
- On your devices, it's stored inside the app and protected by iOS.
Sharing with your family
When you invite someone, Familome uses iCloud sharing. The people you invite get your family's log on their devices; parents and caregivers can add to it, viewers can only look. Memories marked "Only me" aren't shared. You can stop sharing through iCloud at any time.
Reports and exports you create, such as the pediatrician report or a CSV file, go only where you send them. If you add the emergency card widget, the details on the card show on your Lock Screen.
Information that stays on one device
A note written when pausing pregnancy content, and anything you choose to say about what happened, stays on that iPhone only. It is never synced, not even to your partner.
Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone and speech recognition: only while you hold the Orb to log by voice. Speech is turned into text on the device, and the audio isn't kept. The microphone also records sound in a milestone video you take.
- Camera: only when you take a photo of a meal, a symptom or a milestone, or record a milestone video.
- Photos: you choose pictures with the system picker, so the app only sees the ones you pick.
- Calendar: write-only, to add a visit you plan. The app can't read your calendar.
- Notifications: for reminders you set up. They're scheduled on your device.
If you use Siri or Shortcuts with Familome, Apple handles the request under its own privacy policy.
Links to other services
Some screens link out. Health and safety sources open in your browser. In labour, Directions opens Apple Maps and Ride opens Uber, each with the hospital's name as the destination. Those services handle what you send them under their own policies.
Purchases
Familome Plus is sold by Apple through your Apple Account; we never see your payment details. The app checks your subscription with Apple, and the family's Plus status is saved in the family's iCloud record so that every caregiver gets it.
Crash reports and testing
If you allow sharing with app developers in your iPhone's Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple may send us crash reports and usage statistics without your name. If you test Familome through TestFlight, feedback and screenshots you choose to send reach us through Apple.
Children
Familome is for parents and caregivers, not for children to use. Information about your child is entered by you and kept in your iCloud as described above; we don't receive it.
Your choices and rights
You can export everything as CSV or JSON at any time in Family › Data & privacy, with or without Familome Plus. Delete everything removes the family from your devices and, if you created it, from iCloud for everyone it's shared with. Because we don't hold your family's information, these controls and Apple's are how you see, move and delete it.
If you write to us, we use your email only to answer you, as described in the website privacy policy. Under the GDPR you may also complain to a data protection authority.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date below. Questions: [email protected].
In short: Your family's information stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. We collect nothing, show no ads and use no tracking.
